Here's a cute poem one of our guests sent to us. Teach your it child!

Valentine Poem

5 little valentine thoughts just for you
The first one is: "My love is true."
The second one is: "You have my heart."
The third one is: "Let us never part."
The fourth one is: "Won't you please be mine?"
The fifth one is: "'Til the end of time."

Dr. Rempel's Favorite Valentine Craft

Last year, my son, Jordan, brought home a true treasure from his Valentine's Day party at school. Try this! It's sure to bring a tear to the eyes of most moms that I know:

Here's what you'll need to make the craft:

1 piece of red construction paper 8x11

1 piece of white construction paper 8x11

pink paint

glue

1 black felt tip pen

two self-laminating sheets

Here's what you do:

1. Use the white paper to make a large heart.

2. Glue the heart on to the red construction paper.

3. Write the following poem on the heart:

Sometimes you get discouraged

Because I am so small

And always leave my fingerprints

On furniture and walls.

But everyday I'm growing

I'll be grown-up someday

And all those tiny handprints

Will surely fade away.

So here's a final handprint

Just so you can recall

Exactly how my finger looked

When I was very small.

4. Have the child write his or her name at the bottom of the page underneath the poem.

5. Have the child dip his or her hand in the pink paint. Have the child make a hand print with each hand on the bottom of the page. Have the hands turned slightly inward toward the heart.

6. Allow the paint to dry.

7. Laminate the front and back of the paper.

Valentine Song

Dr. Rempel's daughter, Catherine, is learning this song for her Valenine's party in preschool. With all of the bingo sets that are available on this site, we just had to recommend this song: Sing it to the tune of "B-I-N-G-O":

I love my mom and dad so much,
I'll give them each a heart.

H-E-A-R-T, H-E-A-R-T,
H-E-A-R-T,

Each heart says I love you!

Fun Things To Do With Your Kids For Valentines Day

By CJ Krebs

With Valentines Day approaching, many are wondering what fun things they can do with the kids. Sheeze.com shares some great Valentines Day ideas for crafts, games, and recipes. Crafts: "POCKET FULL OF LOVE" What you need: An old pair of jeans Fillables - candy, fake flowers, etc. Writables - permanent marker, fabric paint, or other Directions: Take an old pair of jeans and cut the back pockets out (keeping both sides of the pockets in tact). Fill the pockets with candy, fake flowers or anything else you imaginations thinks of. Decorate the outside of the pockets - Make a heart and write the words "Pocket Full Of Love" inside the heart with either markers, fabric paint or anything else. Decorate the rest as you like. Makes a Great Valentines gift! "SPOONFUL OF KISSES" What you need: Plastic spoon Two Hersheys Kisses Ribbon Cardstock or construction paper Directions: (You may precut everything for the little kids) Trace a heart on the construction paper (fold construction paper in half first) or cardstock. Punch a whole for the ribbon to tie on the spoon when it's done. On your card, write "Here's a Spoonful of Love & Kisses" on it. On the spoon put a couple of kisses in the bowl of the spoon and wrap ribbon or tulle around it and tie in a bow, to secure it. Tie it to the card in the whole you punched out. Games: "MUSICAL HEARTS" This game is similar to musical chairs. You must make a big red heart that a person can hold in both hands, first. Everyone muct stand in a circle. Someone then plays music (a popular friendship song, etc.) When the music starts - you pass the paper heart clock wise. When the music stops - the person standing on the left of the person holding the heart is "out" and must exit the game. The game continues - until the last person remains holding the heart. Give the winner a handful or box of candy! Recipes: "VALENTINE SODAS" What you need: Ginger-ale Strawberry icecream Whipped cream 1 teaspoon Strawberry preserves (optional) Directions: Fill a tall glass with strawberry icecream, about 3/4 full. Pour ginger-ale over the icecream. Top with whipped cream and strawberry preserves. Serve with a spoon. Yum, yum! Kids love it! © 2002 CJ Krebs All Rights Reserved ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ CJ Krebs writes short Parenting Stories for: http://www.Sheeze.com and hangs out at the Lil' Hangout: http://www.lilhangout.com/forum ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
